LaRay is a multi-genre songstress/songwriter, actress and playwriter. Whether she’s singing or acting she performs with an unapologetic passion and enthusiasm that leaves an impression on her audience. Her performance reaches the core of every crowd and touches the soul of her audiences.
While attending Evangel Cathedral located in Upper Marlboro, MD. LaRay was amazed at the mass theater productions that were being done and soon developed a love and passion for theater. Not having done theater before LaRay stepped out on faith and auditioned for Minister Kevin Jackson’s “So How Ya Livin’ Now” production in which she landed the leading female role of “Denise”. After receiving great reviews, she then on went to appear in two more Evangel Cathedrals’ theater productions “The Bride” in which she portrayed two different roles “The Spirt of Lust” and "A Bride" and lastly "More Than Triumphant" as a "Mourner for Jesus".

In September 2017, LaRay released her self-titled project “LaRay: Herstory, HerVoice” which showcases her signature energetic powerhouse vocals in contemporary, inspirational soul melodies and uplifting tempos. Her lyrics are filled with confessions of her love for Christ and the trueness of all the trials and victories that she has endured in her lifetime.
Soon after releasing her album, LaRay appeared in two hit musical stage plays: First, “Fabulously 40 & Over” written and directed by Deron Cloud in which she landed the supporting roles of “Florah and Divorced Deborah”. Secondly, she appeared in The Man Monster stage play written by T. Renee Garner and directed by Comedian Howard Gaskins as leading role of “Renee”. After returning to the stage it encouraged her to push forward and complete a script that she started back 2007. LaRay will be making her debut as a playwriter and director of her very own stage play titled “The Ties That Bind” in September 2018.
The gifted singer is happily married to Derrick McDaniel with whom she resides in District Heights, Maryland, together with their three daughters, Daija, Derricka and Danielle.
